Painters Under Pressure: a Seattle Print Arts Collective
Collectively known as "Painters Under Pressure," the seven of us belong to a Seattle Print Arts Salon, where we discuss our work, share our lives, and inspire each other. We borrow techniques from each others' disciplines: the painters often incise their paper or apply paint using a brayer, while the printers employ monotype techniques, painting on a printing plate.

Matt Hamon, The in-between places (3rd Floor - hallway)
“I combine the qualities of verisimilitude that are inherent in photography with the nebulous qualities of drawing. The unfolding narrative is based on insinuation rather than representation. I am interested in the malleable qualities of fiction that are invented by the viewer.
It is the ambiguity hovering between what is imagined and what one sees, between reality and fiction, that I hope will reinforce the sense of intrigue for the viewer. I attempt to make work that is ambiguously specific, chaotically tranquil, and viscerally banal. For me, the magic is in the in-between places.”

Matt Hamon - Cassius Clay

Partner’s Art show (Second floor):
Three years ago, four artists pooled their resources and skills, to purchase, renovate, and develop BallardWorks. The building was the culmination of a dream -- they wanted to have a place to work, to grow,
develop their art, and create a community. By forming a strong partnership these artists were able to take on this large project; the result attests to their vision and personal motivations.

A vibrant community of artists has prospered -- there have been monthly shows of outside artists, and on-going events resulting from strong partnerships with other organizations, such as Arts Ballard, Seattle
Print Arts, and /others/.

This show is a celebration of the partners’ vision, the thriving community of artists, and of the art of the four partners:

Artists: John Gleason, Joan Stuart Ross, Dionne Haroutunian, Jay Lazerwitz
