BallardWorks is very please to present "East Meets West: Artists from Building C".
A cultural exchange is on the horizon in Ballard: the east end of ARTWalk territory is visiting the west end. A dynamic group of professional artists who work at Building C studios will be showing their work at BallardWorks, another artist studio building. The show will feature work by twenty artists (www.buildingc.com) -- an up-and-coming group who supports and influences each other but nonetheless make wildly differing artwork. Ranging from brilliantly-colored abstracts and subtle non-objective pieces to serene landscapes and beautiful painterly images, the work of these artists is sophisticated and thought-provoking. The show will be open on two successive Second Saturdays – June 9th and July 14th , 2007 from 6 - 9PM, and by appointment.

Contributing artists are Pirjo Berg, Andree Carter, Pati Casebolt, Carol Chellino, Diane Culhane, Sue Danielson, Michael Dickter, Carole d’Inverno, Jessica Disman, Patricia Hagen, Amy Harris, Virginia Howlett, Mary Iverson, Jason Lien, Randy McCoy, Mike Naylor, Aaron Power, Jennifer Stenhouse, Jim Stoccardo, and JunkoYamamoto.

PRINT ZERO STUDIOS - PRINT EXCHANGE #5
Print Zero Studios was started in Seattle by Jeremy Cody & Brian Lane in 2003 as a way to support the younger printmaking community. Through organizing shows at alternative spaces, multiple large scale print exchanges, and networking, we hope to expose younger printmakers work while side by side with established artists, thus strengthening this community. Print Zero Studios is based out of Seattle, WA & Athens, OH.

Print Zero Studios Print Exchange #4 Portfolio (first & second floor)
This show brings together 285 printmakers from 18 countries. Each participant created an edition of 5x7” prints using the printmaking method(s) of their choice. Politics, childhood, technology, portraiture, landscape, and the mundane are a few of the themes represented.

Print Zero Studios was started in 2003 by Jeremy Cody & Brian Lane as a way to support and strengthen the younger printmaking community through print exchanges and exhibitions. Print Zero Studios is based in Seattle.

Nine Hands Draw from Life
Local artist and figure instructor, Barbara Fugate has gathered together her drawing group for a delicious show. Here is her direct exerpt:
Go to BALLARD ART WALK on Saturday, September 8th and stop by BALLARD WORKS for an opening of drawings by me and eight of my friends. Stop by and say hello, enjoy our collection of mark-making, and let us know how you like it.

You will see a hallway of our gesture drawings wallpapering the entrance (a delirium of marks!), as well as longer studied works. All our drawings are made from life, all drawn simultaneously without comment or critique. We simply love to draw. We believe in the process of making more and more drawings--and the collective energy and momentum gained by our dedicated focus as we stand side by side flinging charcoal, ink wash and soft pastel!

About the show:
These eight friends have gathered at my studio to draw the model for a good nine years. We're a serious bunch behind the easel and pretty goofy one afterward sharing drinks and conversation. The support of our mark-making bond gives us extra autonomy to evolve our individual visions. Our marks are different yet our aim is the same: to always draw sincerely from our heart, mind, body, and soul. This show is a testament to Making Meaningful Marks--Nine times over!

The list of participants for the show is on the postcard pdf.
